History & Heritage

Mr. Lee Ying-cheng, the founder of SUNG CHIEH TEA (SCTEA), comes from a distinguished lineage of tea masters with a heritage spanning over 120 years. Our legacy began with our first-generation tea master, Mr. Lee Ching-yun, who was awarded the prestigious "First Class Award" for Mingjian Village Oolong Tea by the Nantou District in 1928 (the 3rd year of the Showa era). Following this legacy, our third-generation tea master, Mr. Lee You-lai, received numerous top honors between 1950 and 1959, including the "Grand Prize" in the Taichung County Oolong Tea Competition, "Second Prize" in the National Baozhong Tea Competition, "Grand Prize" in the Nantou County Baozhong Tea Competition, and the "Excellent Award" in the National Bu-Qiu (Cloth-Ball) Rolling Competition.

1975

Mr. Lee You-lai accompanied Premier Chiang Ching-kuo during an official inspection of the region. Impressed by the quality, the Premier officially named the local tea "Songbai Evergreen Tea" (Songbai Changqing Tea).

1984

Mr. Lee You-lai won the prestigious "Special Grand Prize" in the Wuyi Tea Category from the Mingjian Township Farmers' Association.

2000

SUNG CHIEH TEA CO., LTD. (SCTEA) was officially established and began supplying premium tea leaves to well-known food and beverage factories in Taiwan.

2002

With the rapid rise of the bubble tea phenomenon, the company entered the Taiwanese beverage and milk tea chain market, supplying premium tea ingredients to leading brands.

2010

To support the expansion of our key accounts, we began exporting to mainland China and other global markets, successfully bringing Taiwanese tea to the international stage.

2017

Achieved SGS ISO 22000 and HACCP International Food Safety Certifications, reinforcing our commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and premium quality tea to our customers.

2018

Expanded operations into Guangzhou, China, establishing a specialized, high-end processing facility for beverage tea ingredients. A dedicated R&D team was formed to create customized tea formulas for bubble tea chains and food/beverage corporations across the Chinese market.

2019

Established SCTEA's Second Facility (Plant 2), featuring an advanced mixology and beverage testing bar. Our R&D team continuously innovates new tea formulas, providing clients with an enhanced tea-tasting experience, greater product diversification, superior quality control, and highly professional service.
